Employee Spotlight TJ Murphy
In October of 2021, our SERVPRO® of Montgomery County team had the pleasure of bringing on new Operations Manager, TJ Murphy. Professionally, TJ has extensive experience in project management and estimation consulting with SERVPRO. Before his move to Clarksville, he served honorably in both the U.S. Air Force and Coast Guard.
TJ brings more to the table than several years of industry experience; he also brings a passion for helping people in one of the most stressful times of their lives. At a young age, TJ lost his home to a fire, which has given him a unique and tender advantage in his field. He empathizes deeply with the hardship our customers sometimes experience when their home is impacted by fire, water, or storm damage. TJ’s insider perspective drives his ability to be resourceful to find expedient solutions to obstacles when serving customers.
Operations Manager = Solutions Engineer
TJ is open about his love for problem solving, like the kind of critical thinking that’s needed for large, complex jobs. Coordinating solutions and the resources to handle big jobs at a moment's notice is a fulfilling part of the weekly grind for TJ.
A Massive Flooded Condo
When asked about his craziest ‘from-the-field’ SERVPRO story, TJ said:
We were called to a flooded 18-story, high-end condominium at 6:00 p.m. one evening. The damage disabled the elevators, so we had to be creative. We assembled a chain of team members to line the entire stairwell in order to pass necessary equipment from the bottom floor to the top. We used 123 dehumidifiers and approximately 500 air movers! Now, the crazy part is we made this happen in only 6 hours! We had all restoration equipment in place before midnight that same day!
